Is Tahiti on Your Bucket List?
Tahiti is one of those far-flung destinations that feels right for honeymoons, milestone anniversaries or birthday celebrations - but it’s not just for a special occasion type of trip. If you’re looking for pristine beaches, crystal-clear waters, and ultimate relaxation, go to Tahiti!
Why Tahiti?
Tahiti is more than just a destination; it's a state of mind. With its lush landscapes, vibrant coral reefs, and warm hospitality, Tahiti offers a slice of heaven on earth. Whether you're seeking a romantic getaway, an adventurous escape, or simply a tranquil retreat, Tahiti has something for everyone.
The Ultimate Tahiti Experience
Picture yourself lounging in an overwater bungalow, surrounded by the gentle lapping of turquoise waves and the scent of tropical flowers. Indulge in a private sunset cruise, where you'll toast to another day in paradise as the sun dips below the horizon in a blaze of colors. Immerse yourself in Tahitian culture with traditional dance performances, vibrant markets, and authentic cuisine that will tantalize your taste buds.
Your Ideal Island Itinerary
When planning your trip to Tahiti, we’d recommend staying about 12 days to see the highlights of the islands. Stay 2 nights on the island of Tahiti Nui before moving on to Moorea or Tetiaroa for 3-4 nights. You’ll then want another 4-5 nights in beautiful Bora Bora before heading back home. If you’ve got a lot of time, we’d also recommend adding a few nights in Taha’a.
The best time to visit is May to November when you’ll have ideal weather for exploring these islands.
Adventure Awaits
For the adventurous souls, Tahiti offers a plethora of exciting activities to satisfy your craving for adrenaline. Dive into the underwater wonderland of coral gardens and marine life with a snorkeling or scuba diving excursion. Embark on a thrilling 4x4 safari through lush valleys and rugged terrain, or hike to hidden waterfalls for a refreshing dip in nature's oasis. From August through October, humpback whales make their way to Tahiti’s warm waters to give birth to their calves; the islands are one of the few places snorkelers and scuba divers can swim with the cetaceans. For adventure seekers, the islands are eco-playgrounds with opportunities to sail, jet-ski, stand-up paddleboard, hike, bike, zipline, skydive, and surf. (Notably, Tahiti will host the Olympic surfing competition in 2024).

Getting to Tahiti
Several airlines offer nonstop flights from major U.S. cities such as Los Angeles (LAX) and San Francisco (SFO) to Tahiti. Airlines like Air Tahiti Nui and United Airlines operate direct flights to Papeete. These flights typically take around 8-9 hours.
If you're not departing from a city with nonstop flights to Tahiti, you may need to take connecting flights. Common layover cities include Los Angeles, San Francisco, Honolulu, and Auckland, New Zealand.
Another option for reaching Tahiti from the USA is by taking a cruise. Many cruise lines offer itineraries that include stops in Tahiti, often departing from ports on the west coast of the USA. Cruises provide a leisurely way to travel to Tahiti, allowing passengers to enjoy multiple destinations along the way. There are also cruise lines, like Paul Gauguin Cruises, that focus on French Polynesia only so you can easily explore Tahiti and the surrounding islands and only have to unpack once.
For those seeking a more luxurious and customizable travel experience, private charters are available. Private jets or yachts can be chartered to fly directly to Tahiti or to nearby islands.
Whether you're celebrating a special occasion, planning a honeymoon, or simply craving a getaway to recharge and rejuvenate, Tahiti promises an experience like no other. Start planning your tropical getaway with us!
