Why Not Los Cabos?

If you’re looking for a wellness destination that offers a bit of adventure along with excellent cuisine and luxe accommodations then Los Cabos is the place for you. 

This part of Western Mexico continues to grow rapidly and there are new hotels being built all the time…in addition to the many luxury properties already dotting the coastline. And with an increasing number of direct flight options from the South, Midwest, and Northeast, it’s getting even easier for American travelers to get to Los Cabos (a great alternative to Cancun and the Yucatan). 

Los Cabos is made up of two cities, Cabo San Lucas and San Jose del Cabo, and a 20-mile tourist corridor that runs between them. This is a part of Mexico I have yet to visit, but have definitely been longing to see, particularly because it’s known as the World’s Aquarium, home to ⅓ of the world’s marine mammals! Los Cabos has 350 days of clear, sunny skies, with summer temperatures year-round, and it’s also home to the most swimmable beaches in Mexico, 25 of which are designated Blue Flag beaches. 

Something for Everyone

In Los Cabos, a paradise where the Sea of Cortés meets the Pacific Ocean, there is something to do for everyone: fishing, golf, scuba diving, snorkeling, kayaking, horseback riding, relaxing in luxury spas and resorts, and dancing ’til dawn.

For natural encounters, a traveler may visit El Arco and get a camelback tour of the desert foothills one day, then on the following day, they may visit Cabo Pulmo for snorkeling. Other experiences include hiking to the Sol de Mayo waterfall, a burro safari tour and whale watching, depending on the season.

There are 18 championship golf courses in the area, seven of which are open to the public. If golf’s not your thing, consider hiking or biking excursions or enjoy paddleboarding along the beautiful coastline. 

You can also take day trips around the region and visit some of the gems of Mexico like  Cabo Pulmo, approximately two hours away from San Jose del Cabo. Cabo Pulmo is a National Marine Park and UNESCO World Heritage Site, is home to over 800 species of marine life,

There’s also Todos Santos, about 45 minutes from Cabo. There, travelers can witness quiet local life, experience great surfing and see the original Hotel California.

Getting to Los Cabos

Los Cabos has excellent flight connections with the main cities of the U.S., Canada and Mexico. The Los Cabos International Airport (SJD) is located just 8 miles north of San José del Cabo and 23 miles from Cabo San Lucas. Los Cabos has 550 weekly flights serving approximately 40 destinations.
