How to Earn More Miles with Your Travel Advisor

In late 2023, Delta made a lot of noise by changing up their Medallion status program, angering a lot of frequent Delta fliers and even spurring a few competitor airlines to offer status transfer to their loyalty programs.

If you are a Delta loyalist like me, it was a crazy time.

Delta later adjusted the changes for Medallion Status in 2024, making it slightly easier to attain the status tiers than the original changes had outlined. But it’s still a big shift from how the program worked in 2023 and before.

In late 2023, Delta made a lot of noise by changing up their Medallion status program, angering a lot of frequent Delta fliers and even spurring a few competitor airlines to offer status transfer to their loyalty programs.

American Airlines offers 1x or 5x AA miles for your travel (based on the cost of your travel package).

This is in addition to the trip mileage you receive by flying on American. If you have Gold status or above, you’ll receive 5x the value of the cost of the trip package. So if you spend $4,000 on your trip, you’ll receive 20,000 bonus miles plus the miles earned on the trip.

Both American Airlines Vacations and Delta Vacations offer high quality hotel inventory (4* and above) and you don’t have to book your entire trip through these partners. Instead, book your flights and one hotel to secure additional discounting on your total trip cost and then you can select additional hotels for your trip that may or may not be part of the programs. There’s a lot of flexibility and benefits to working with them.
