Travel Advisors vs Travel Agents

If you have never worked with a travel advisor before, you might think we’re just the updated version of travel agents.

Travel advisors are so much more than a travel agent. We build relationships with our clients and supplier partners so that we can go beyond just booking hotels or flights. And we bring a level of service and support you won’t have when you book on your own or through Expedia.

We’ve been where you’re going.

If you’re going to a new destination and need support from someone who’s been there, work with a travel advisor. If we haven’t been there ourselves, we can connect with a fellow advisor who has - and we have a plethora of resources available to us to help find the perfect hotels, cruises, and tours for your trip. Relying on recommendations from friends isn’t always the best way to plan your trip - you want an itinerary that is tailored to you and your preferences, not something that your neighbor or colleague thought was great. We take the time to understand you so that we can craft the right trip for you.

We listen.

We love getting to know our clients - it makes planning their trips even easier and more fun for us! We know your hotel preferences, when you like to get up in the morning, the types of tours and excursions you love (and those you don’t), your favorite meals, and more.

During consultation calls, I always ask my clients “What is going to make this trip important and memorable for you?” Even if it’s just a quick weekend away with friends or a significant other, I want to know how I can help make it feel special for you. We also share this information with our supplier partners so that they too can take your trip to the next level.

Our service doesn’t end when you make a deposit or final payment.

When you ask us for advice or support on your trip, we’ll sift through all of the information to find the right answer for you. You’ll have a trusted resource who you can ask questions of before booking your trip or in the weeks and months before you depart.

Wondering if you need travel insurance or which hotels are best for families with young kids? Stop searching on multiple tabs and let us do the work. We love helping with restaurant recommendations, extra services, and planning surprises for your fellow travelers. We might even surprise you along the way!

And if something goes wrong during travel, we’re here to help! I’ve helped clients find medical resources when they had food poisoning in Japan and directed clients to a new hotel after securing a full refund on a booked hotel that wasn’t quite right.

We may just save your life.

Recently I heard a story from a fellow advisor that speaks to how we go above and beyond for our clients. The advisor’s clients were in Iceland and trying to meet their guide for an excursion. Somehow they got totally turned on and lost on their way to meet the guide and were starting to panic. They contacted their advisor to let her know what was happening and to see if she could help - even while the advisor was back home in the US. The clients shared their location via their phone and the advisor was able to help navigate them to the correct meeting point so they wouldn’t get lost or, worse yet, walk off a nearby cliff!

Get to know us a bit better and why working with us is your next great idea.
